Viana: Maresca has settled well at Man City
Man City's director of football Hugo Viana says Enzo Maresca - although not a new face at the club - has settled well as he looks to follow up a legacy left by Pep Guardiola.
The Italian was appointed as Guardioa's successor this summer and has made a winning start to the Premier League season.
Asked about their relationship, Viana said in an interview with the club's official media: Enzo knew the club already. He worked for Manchester City before. He was not a new face in the building.
"He has settled really well but hes also brought his new ideas and own way [of] doing things. Its a different approach of course. We lost Pep, a legend of the club, but Enzo is doing really well.
"We are building a really strong relationship. Its a big challenge for me, him and all of us but we have the same ambition to keep Manchester City competing to the highest level and were all confident.
Man City director of football happy with summer transfer window
Man City's director of football Hugo Viana says the club are very happy with their summer transfer window business.
The club signed players like Elliot Anderson and Enzo Fernandez for big money, while also seeing departures from Rodri and Bernardo Silva among others.
In an interview with the club's official media, Viana said: I think we were cool and we are happy with the window.
"It was a different summer because a new manager came in, new faces, a World Cup. Everything was a little bit later than normal, but it was important to stay calm and stick to our plan and be patient.
"We had a look at some really good options for the positions we wanted to bring in new players. When your coach is happy, you should be happy too.
"We are truly happy with the window and we all believe that we bought the players that fit for Enzos style of playing. We also managed very well the outgoings.
"We can speak good things about our transfer window now and it was really busy, but we have to wait. We have to give time to the new players and new coach to implement his ideas. The players have to understand, be ready and know how Enzo wants to play.
When asked whether the squad is in a better place now than before the window, Viana added: Maybe its not fair to say we are in a better place than before the window because we had a lot of quality already, but we have a really young squad.
"We brought the players that we all believe will be important this season and for the next three, four, five years. We bought players with experience in the Premier League and we bought players like Bouaddi that we believe will be important in the future but this year also. Hes still 18, we cannot forget that.
"Its important for them to understand that we want to keep them for the next years. If we can, we want to win but at least we will compete very seriously in all competitions.
Wharton: I never considered leaving Palace
Adam Wharton has revealed he never thought about leaving Crystal Palace this summer - and says he is currently set to stay for the remainder of his three-year deal.
The England international was linked with a move to Manchester City during the last transfer window but was one of the key Palace players to stay.
I never really thought about transfers this summer, said Wharton ahead of Palace's first ever Europa League game against Lech Poznan.
I stay very far away from it. My agent doesnt really tell me anything, I dont want to know anything. If Im not going to move theres no need for me to have any information. I never thought about a different club, I was always here training looking forward to a new season, the gaffer, new players coming in.
I have three years left at Palace, for all I know Im here for three years unless a club comes in or theres another contract. I take it week by week, game by game. That helps me get best out of myself and concentrate on what is next.
Theres never really anything (more) to it. Im happy to be playing games and trying to improve.
'I am not going anywhere,' says Henderson after penning new deal
Crystal Palace captain Dean Henderson maintains there is nowhere he would rather be after the England goalkeeper committed his long-term future to the club ahead of their Europa League debut on Thursday night.
Henderson, who was part of Thomas Tuchels World Cup squad this summer, playing in the third-place play-off victory over France, has signed a contract extension to 2030.
After joining from Manchester United in 2023, Henderson has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for the Eagles and helped them win the Conference League under Oliver Glasner last season.
We have shared some incredible moments, unforgettable nights, glorious days, memories I will never forget, said Henderson, who took on the captaincy following the sale of Marc Guehi to Manchester City in January.
I have learnt what it means to wear this shirt, to be trusted with the armband is something I will never take for granted.
Henderson added in a video on the Palace website: You are not just leading the team, you are carrying everyone who stands behind it.

Henderson will miss Thursday nights Europa League opener against Lech Poznan at Selhurst Park as he continues to recover from an ankle injury, which is expected to see him sit out Englands upcoming Nations League games over the international break.
As a player he is a really good goalkeeper, and as a man he has good leadership, Palace boss Pierre Sage said at a press conference ahead of the European tie.
He is positive and is always with his teammates; that is why it is really important to have him.
Sage confirmed Ismaila Sarr could be involved for the first time since the collapse of his proposed move to Liverpool.
Forward Eddie Nketiah should also be in the squad, but Jean-Philippe Mateta remains out with a thigh problem.

Henderson commits future to Palace with new deal
Dean Henderson has signed a new contract at Crystal Palace until 2030.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper has committed his future to Palace after three years at Selhurst Park, having joined from Manchester United in August 2023.
He was heavily linked with a reunion with former Palace head coach Oliver Glasner at Nottingham Forest during the summer, but will instead remain at Selhurst Park.
