Team USA captain Angela Stanford insists Angel Yin will be fit to feature against Team Europe this week at the Solheim Cup and has backed her side to claim away victory in the Netherlands.
Yin has not completed a 72-hole tournament since May, having missed the cut at the US Women's Open in June before withdrawing mid-tournament from the KPMG Women's PGA Championship later that month due to illness.
The two-time LPGA Tour winner qualified second in the US Solheim Cup points list despite missing the final two majors of the season with the undisclosed stomach issue, which saw her lose around 2.5 stone in weight.
Yin missed the cut by 13 shots on her only LPGA Tour star since at the FM Championship, although Stanford says that the 27-year-old can still play a role in helping Team USA attempt to retain the trophy at Bernardus Golf.
"She's here and she has played two practice rounds," Stanford said in her press conference. "She will play, because that's in the spirit of this competition.
"Every time we play a Solheim Cup, there is a captain's agreement and in that we stipulate who should play how many matches. It's been a while now for the Solheim, that players will play once before Sunday for sure.
"We're still trying to gauge and we're watching, but she's here. She's very happy to be here and she's playing."
Lilia Vu is on-site in the Netherlands for Team USA and was seen in uniform during Tuesday's practice session, with the former world No 1 - who had the clinching half-point in the 2024 victory - a potential last-minute option if required.
The United States are chasing the first victory on European soil since 2015 and their first back-to-back wins in the biennial contest since 2017, with Stanford having faith in her side to enjoy a famous away success.
"When you play in Europe, you have to be mentally tough and you have to be together as a team," Stanford explained. "I think they have it, I really do - they're all on the same page.
"We've talked about it leading up to this event. We're going to talk about it again before we go out and play Thursday night. There's nothing that I need to say to them, because they want to win too.
"The golf itself is so good that you're going to see great golf. It's just what do you have deep down that can get you over the finish line."
Stanford added: "They all seem to be in a good space. We're not peaking yet. They're just getting settled, they're trying to learn the golf course and they're hitting great shots. So it's been fun to watch.
"Peaking would hopefully be leading each session, and I hope it starts Friday morning."
Your Site Golf will have at least 12 hours of live coverage from the first two days, with coverage getting under way at 6am on Friday and Saturday ahead of the opening foursomes match teeing off at 6.40am (7.40am local time).
The afternoon fourballs are scheduled to start at 12.05pm (1.05pm local time) on both days, with coverage continuing until after the final putt is holed, while Sunday singles coverage begins at 9am ahead of the opening tee shot at 10.10am.
